The plan year runs from July 1 to June 30 of each year.

Eligible dependents include:
- Spouse, or common-law partner (12 months of cohabitation)
- Children under 21 (or under 26 if enrolled in full-time education)
- Children of any age with a disability who are financially dependent on you

Your annual flexible dollar amount varies based on the coverage status you select. The exact amount you’re entitled to will be visible on GreenShield’s enrolment tool.

Yes, you can make different choices for all benefits that offer a Gold+ option. For example, you could choose the Gold option for the Health Benefit and the Gold+ option for the Dental Benefit and Long-Term Disability.
However, your coverage status (single, couple, single parent, family) must be the same for Health and Dental Benefits.

You’ll get the default option automatically, and you won’t be able to change it until the following re-enrolment period, unless an eligible life event occurs.
Default coverage for new hires as of November 1, 2025:
- Gold option for all coverage
- Single coverage status
- Flexible dollars, if any, will be split 50/50 between the HCSA and PSA
- No optional coverage

If you’re participation in the Savings Program is mandatory, you’ll be automatically enrolled in the DCPP and RRSP to receive the automatic employer contribution.
Without investment instructions, your accumulated assets and future contributions will be invested by default in the Ready-made investment option, a target date fund with a retirement date closest to age 65.
If you were contributing to your RRSP to obtain the employer match under your current program, your current contribution level will be carried over and payroll deductions will continue to apply.

A change in your life situation that can affect the coverage you need, such as:
- Marriage, civil union or new common-law spouse (after 12 months of cohabitation)
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Loss or gain of coverage under your spouse’s plan
- Death of an eligible dependent
- Divorce or separation
- Your youngest child no longer meets the definition of dependent child

Yes. There’s an annual deductible for the Dental Benefit. The amount varies based on the option you select and your coverage status. Consult the Program Summary for details.

It depends on the coverage for which you select the Gold+ option – Health Benefit, Dental Benefit and Long-Term Disability (LTD), – your coverage status (single, couple, single parent, family), as well as your salary if you select Gold+ for LTD.
